Timothée Chalamet has been on a non-stop roll when it comes to acting. He recently starred in movie blockbusters like Wonka and Dune: Part Two. Now, Chalmet will be playing singer Bob Dylan in a biopic set to release later this year. On July 24th, we got an official first look at Chalamet playing Bob Dylan in an official teaser for the film, A Complete Unknown. Besides seeing his acting talent shine, Chalamet proves he has the chops for singing in the film. Read on to learn everything we saw in the official first look of the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.

A Look at ‘A Complete Unknown’

The teaser opens with singer Pete Seeger, played by Edward Norton, talking to an audience about when he first met Bob Dylan. About 34 seconds into the teaser, Chalamet makes an appearance and is seen getting behind a mic where he begins to sing. Chalamet sings A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall — a song by Bob Dylan from the 1960s.

While we continue hearing the song in the background, the teaser switches to other scenes of the film. There is one shot that shows Chalamet carrying his guitar as he makes his way through the streets of New York City. The film will take the audience through the singer’s humble beginnings.

Elle Fanning who will play Suze Rotolo is also seen in the teaser. The real-life Suze Rotolo was the real Bob Dylan’s romantic interest during the 1960s.

The movie description reads as follows: “Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, A COMPLETE UNKNOWN follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician BOB DYLAN’s (Timothée Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.”

The film is based off of the 2015 book, Dylan Goes Electric! by Elijah Wald. Dylan Goes Electric! talks about how Bob Dylan got rid of the classic acoustic guitar and did the unthinkable. Dylan grabbed an electric guitar which marked the end of a folk music revival and introduced the rock era.

A Complete Unknown’s cast also features Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Norbert Leo Butz, Dan Fogler, and Scoot McNairy. The screenplay is by Jay Cocks and James Mangold (who also directs the film).

There is no official release date for A Complete Unknown but we will update this story once a set date is known.
