There’s nothing better than celebrating love year-round. Sure, there’s Valentine’s Day, but love has no specific seasons — fall can be equally as romantic for lovebirds out there. Whether you and your S.O. are homebodies or outgoing social butterflies, there are fall date ideas that are perfect for both parties. From cuddling up to watch a movie or venturing to a haunted house, here are the top fall date ideas to try this season.

1. Have a cooking/baking night

If you two are foodies, this idea is just what is *needed.* Open up Pinterest or a YouTube video and search for “fall recipes” or “Halloween recipes.” There are many options that pop up like soups or pies. Also, if both of you are feeling hungry and can’t wait — there are pre-cooked options available in stories. Try the Pillsbury cookies (the best sweet option out there) or a pre-cooked pizza. Some pizzas even come in cool Halloween shapes.

2. Head out to a haunted house

There are plenty of haunted house options (depending on where you live). It is a matter of research from purchasing tickets in advance or figuring out the way to get there. Come prepared because haunted houses are a thrill and unexpected (WARNING: jumpscares overload). Zombies or other creepy creatures can come up towards you two — so hold each other’s hand for comfort.

3. Try out a local distillery or winery

If into dressing up as a couple, now is the time to start planning. Some ideas include Salt + Pepper, Morticia + Gomez Addams, The Incredibles, Barbie + Ken, or Cowboy + Cowgirl. Also, if couples’ costumes aren’t your thing, helping each other plan for solo costumes is fun too.

This idea goes hand and hand with the previous one. After pumpkin picking, take the picked pumpkins and carve them. There are many ideas on Google or Pinterest to use for pumpkin faces to carve. Make a scary or goofy face — creativity is endless when it comes to this activity.

Festivals don’t only take place in the spring and summer. Fall is a continuation of the festival season — there are many festivals taking place in several areas across the U.S. Some are Halloween, cultural, or food-themed, one thing’s for sure is that festivals are packed with many activities to do. Face painting, costume contests, live music, pumpkin picking, and shopping are just some of the things to do. It’s a great way to get out of the house while making memories with your S.O.

10. Go on a hike

Since fall temperatures are right in the middle of cool and warm, hiking is a great outdoor activity for couples. Head to a park or hiking trail and get steps in while taking in the scenic view of the season. Fall foliage is a popular highlight of the season — which can be seen in some parts of the U.S. Be sure to pack supplies like a first aid kit, water, flashlight, and other essentials.

11. Plan a camping trip

To unwind for a weekend or a couple of days, camping is another nature-inspired activity to do. Camping options can include spending the night out in a tent or renting a cabin. It’s a fun way to disconnect and get in touch with nature. When camping, activities like stargazing, hiking, biking, and roasting marshmallows are a must.
