Bad Bunny made his “NUEVAYoL” (New York) appearance alongside television host Jimmy Fallon, wearing dress shoes and a wig to hide his identity. This was part of a dedicated Subway Busking segment that Fallon occasionally does with celebrities for his late-night show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

On Monday, January 13th, subway commuters were in for a surprise at the 47-50 Street—Rockefeller Center station on Sixth Avenue. Jimmy Fallon and Bad Bunny set up a small performance area and were backed by a band to perform some tunes. The duo started by singing a cover of the Backstreet Boys’ song, I Want It That Way whilst being incognito. They both wore sunglasses and long, scruffy wigs.

A crowd of subway commuters began gathering around when Fallon and Bunny’s true identities were revealed. Fallon began talking to the crowd by saying “Welcome to New York City. I’m Jimmy Fallon, this is Bad Bunny, he’s got a new record out. ”

The excited crowd started cheering while the duo took off their disguises and began to sing Bunny’s newest songs from his Debí Tirar Más Fotos album. Of course, since they were in New York — it felt fitting to sing Bunny’s NUEVAYoL song (which is the Spanish word for New York). While Bunny sang, Fallon was beside him playing the tambourine.

This subway performance came ahead of Bunny’s debut as co-host for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon which aired on the night of January 13th. The segment was aired during the show although social media gives us a peek of the performance ahead of the new episode. Besides co-hosting, Bunny was interviewed by Fallon during the episode where he shared more about his album and performed VOY A LLeVARTE PA PR off his brand new album at the end.

January has already been a packed month for Bad Bunny — from releasing his Debí Tirar Más Fotos album on January 5th, announcing his 21-show residency at the “El Choli” Coliseo de Puerto Rico, and anchoring at NotiCentro Al Amanecer — a morning news show in Puerto Rico. Despite all these major plans, he managed to slide in a fun, upbeat subway busking session with Jimmy Fallon for his NYC fans.
