Trust me, we have been in the ultimate fall mood since August. So, this particular bucket list item was checked off weeks ago. But, if you’re just starting to get into the fall spirit — definitely *run* not walk to buy a fall-themed drink. Starbucks and Dunkin’ are famously known for having their fall drink lineups but show some love to a local coffee shop too. Pumpkin spice latte, chai latte, or pumpkin cold brew are the best drink options to choose from.

2. Revamp or create a fall wardrobe

This is another must on a fall bucket list, changing out summer clothes to fall clothes can help set the season mood. Knit sweaters, oversized hoodies, knee-high boots, and plaid flannels are essential fall clothing staples. To get a new fall wardrobe, thrifting is a good option that is sustainable and affordable.

3. Decorate your room, house, or apartment for the season

Fall is another exciting time (besides winter) because there are many ways to decorate your living space. Shops like TJMAXX, Marshalls, or HomeGoods are places that have a section fully dedicated to fall decor. Online shopping is an option too but in-person shopping for decor really makes it a fun bucket list experience.

4. Stock up on a fall-themed candle

Bath + Body Works happens to be a great place to search for a fall-themed candle. Nothing feels better than breathing in scents like apple, pumpkin spice, or maple syrup. Small businesses on Etsy and Amazon also sell candles for a more local find.

5. Visit a pumpkin patch

This activity is a must when fall comes around. Head to a local pumpkin farm and pick either a small or large pumpkin for home decor, crafts, or to make a pumpkin-inspired dish with it. As there is a long line of pumpkins set up at these farms, this backdrop makes a great photo opportunity for the feed.

6. Plan your Halloween fit

If celebrating Halloween, it is never too early to start planning your costume. Curating a Halloween fit takes time, whether planning to create a DIY costume or buy one from a store / online — it’s best to be prepared.

7. Bake a fall-themed dessert

During the fall, the most popular desserts include apple pie, pumpkin pie, and cheesecake. There are many recipes to try out online and in recent times, platforms like TikTok have been home to many food content creators sharing their very own recipes for people to try and recreate them at home.

8. Visit a haunted house

For Halloween and horror enthusiasts, this idea is a must on a bucket list if feeling brave. If looking to get a scare, there are many haunted houses throughout the country that welcome visitors. Clowns, zombies, and monsters come out to haunt you throughout your visit.

9. Carve pumpkins

This goes hand in hand with the “visit a pumpkin patch” idea on the bucket list. After pumpkin picking, carve a fun, creative look on the pumpkin of your choosing. There are stencils available for purchase if you need a lead on how to carve or pick a design up to the imagination — all in all, this activity requires creativity.

10. Go apple-picking

Apples are a signature fruit when it comes to fall produce. Many farms grow apples for visitors to go and pick once harvested. Items like apple cider and apple cider donuts are made from apples and farms happen to sell these for purchase. Or, take the picked apples home and make some of these creations on your own.

11. Go on a hayride

Hayrides is a fall activity offered at many farms. It is perfect for all ages, whether you’re a child or an adult. During the hayride,  visitors can admire the fall foliage and the views of the pumpkin + apple fields.

12. Have a fall movie marathon

It’s time to bring out the classics and invite family and/or friends for a fall movie marathon. Films like Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Coco, and Twitches are the essentials.

13. Go for an outdoor walk

Depending on location, going for an outdoor walk during the fall is a way to unwind and disconnect for a while. Grab headphones and listen to music or a podcast and walk around the neighborhood.  Fall foliage may be encountered on the walk which makes a great sight to admire.

14. Attend or watch a football game

Once the end of August starts coming around, football enthusiasts rejoice for the upcoming season. Watching an in-person football game is a lively experience to go to and support your favorite team. This experience includes the cheers of the fans, the running of players, and the voices of the commentators. If more about staying indoors, cook food or craft a snack board to munch on while watching the game at home.

15. Attend a fall festival

To round off this bucket list, fall festivals are a great way to celebrate the start of fall. These festivals include various fall food favorites such as caramel apples, apple pie, pumpkin lattes, and apple cider to enjoy. Also, other fall activities can be found from hayrides to corn mazes to costume contests.
