Another book is set to hit cinema screens very soon — we’re talking about It Ends With Us, a novel by Colleen Hoover. Fans of the book phenomenon finally got a glimpse of the movie adaptation starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. There was also a surprise for Taylor Swift fans out there. The It Ends With Us trailer featured a song from Taylor Swift’s Folklore album, My Tears Ricochet. Colleen Hoover’s movie adaption of It Ends With Us is set to be released on August 9, 2024.
What is ‘It Ends With Us’ about?
It Ends With Us is the first book in a duology written by Colleen Hoover. It tells the story of Lily Bloom (played by Blake Lively) who grew up in a traumatic household but embarks on a journey to Boston. She aspires to start a new life and own her own business. Her life gets turned upside down when she meets the charming neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid (played by Justin Baldoni). Lily and Ryle fall in love but the relationship takes a drastic turn. Lily’s world gets shaken once again when her first love, Atlas Corrigan returns (played by Brandon Sklenar).

What can we expect to see in ‘It Ends With Us’?
The trailer opens with My Tears Ricochet by Taylor Swift playing in the background. The trailer’s first scene shows Lily Bloom (Lively) standing outside Lily Bloom’s (her very own flower shop) that’s set to open for business. The movie then shows the evolution of Lily and Ryle’s relationship through numerous scenes including the violent confrontation from the book. Lively echoed a quote from the book, “Fifteen seconds. That’s all it takes to completely change everything.”
The movie trailer then introduces Atlas, a person who was a significant part of Lily’s childhood. Viewers can also expect to see flashbacks in the film to better explain Lily’s history with Atlas in their adolescent years just like the book. So far, the movie is expected to follow the entire plot of the book written by Colleen Hoover. There is in fact a second book of the duology but there’s no word on whether it will also be adapted into a movie.

When is ‘It Ends With Us’ coming out?
The film adaption of It Ends With Us will hit theaters on August 9th, 2024. Due to the writers’ strike and actors’ strike, production on the film paused over the summer of 2023. Therefore, It Ends With Us movie was set to have an initial February 9th (then June 21) release date. After much delay, the It Ends With Us movie will finally be released.
