This announcement comes after almost two years since Mendes took a mental health hiatus and called off his Wonder: The World Tour. Fans were already anticipating his musical return after Mendes began posting music-related posts to Instagram.

He took fans on a behind-the-scenes look at him working on music throughout multiple locations. He documented his first day at the studio on January 30th, 2024 in Rhinebeck, New York. Mendes captioned the video, “Day 1 at the clubhouse. This was my first time back in the studio making an album in four years.”

The singer also began teasing his first single, Isn’t That Enough, in another Instagram post while teasing the lyrics. In a black and white video, Mendes sings lyrics like, “My hand’s still shaking / My mind’s still racing / My heart’s still breaking in two / I’m still changing, my friends stay patient / My mother still calls for the news / Isn’t that enough?”

Cheers to A New Era

Other locations that the new album was recorded in were Bear Creek Studio in Washington; Darkhorse Recordings in Nashville; and Electric Lady in New York City.

Mendes shared his enthusiasm for the release of his fifth studio album with a long-form caption along with an Instagram video post that featured the single, Isn’t That Enough, also shared on July 31st.  He shared, “Music really can be medicine. 2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.”
