With 2023 over, 2024 is officially here with 365 days and new opportunities. As many think of ways to make their yearly resolutions come to fruition, a way to accomplish that is by creating a vision board. It is a way to push your dreams to become a reality. Your vision board can use all of these dreams, from pursuing a new career to going on a trip to your dream destination to getting good grades, as an outline. Read on for a beginner’s step-by-step guide on how to create a vision board and manifest your dream life in 2024.

What is a vision board?

A vision board (known sometimes as a dream board) is a collage of images, quotes, and affirmations based on an individual’s dreams and desires. One can use it as a source of motivation and inspiration to push oneself to accomplish and reach one’s end goals/desires. Vision boards are a powerful visualization tool that generates an overload of positive emotions.

How can I make a vision board?

Vision boards can be made either physically or digitally (this form has become popular over the years). No matter what way you opt for — it should always be a visual representation of what you want in your life.

1. Gather images, quotes, and affirmations

To create your vision board, you need images, quotes, and affirmations for both forms. Online platforms like Google, Pinterest, and other search engines have a range of all these items. For example, if manifesting a new job, look for related keywords like “new job” or “new career” — if looking to get more specific, decide what exact job you’re trying to manifest. You can add words like “quotes” and “affirmations” to the end to search for phrases that align with the “new job” category. After you’ve gathered all your images, you can either print them out if you’re making a physical board or download them on your phone for a digital version. Another option is to use old books or magazines lying around and cut out images best related to you.

2. Grab a board, paper, or other items to place images

After sourcing for items to put on your vision board, look for a poster board, paper, or other kind of item that can hold images, quotes, and affirmations. Be sure to cut or adjust them before placing them on the item of your choosing. For those going on the digital route, Canva is an online platform to use and upload images to create your vision board. You can choose different sizes like phone wallpaper or desktop computer wallpaper options. Some vision board templates are available that you can use, but you may need to purchase a few of them.

3. Display your vision board

Once you’ve created a vision board, if you made a physical copy of it, display it where you’re able to see it daily. Take a look at it in the morning and night to have that sense of motivation with you throughout the year. If you made it digitally, download the vision board image and save it as your phone or desktop wallpaper. Since our devices are normally with us 24/7, looking at the vision board will be a quick and easy task to do.

Tips to Keep in Mind

1. Make short and long-term goals for your vision board

Vision boards can have a mix of both short and long-term goals. It shouldn’t be limited to a short time frame. Also, there shouldn’t be any pressure to get all these goals done within a month. For long-term goals, a lot of hard work goes into accomplishing them. Throughout the year, you can make small steps that can help contribute to your long-term goals in the long run.

2. Sometimes not all vision board goals can be accomplished — and that’s okay!

Of course, it can be one’s dream to accomplish all of the dreams you had in mind for the year. However, some unforeseeable circumstances may arise that can prevent one from doing so. If that’s the case, don’t beat yourself up for it — take the unaccomplished goal and use it again for your new vision board in the new year. There is no harm in trying to reach the end goal.

3. Vision boards can change throughout the year

During each month of 2024, take some time to reassess your vision board. You can decide whether the goals on your board make sense or if you have aspirations to incorporate new ones. The first vision board of the year is a general outline of our 2024 goals — it doesn’t need to be something finalized or something you have to stick by all of 2024. It is your vision board and you can make it in any way you want it to be.
