The time has come again when the Met Gala — a.k.a fashion’s biggest night — made its return to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. On May 4th, 2026, many celebrities dressed to the nines and walked the famous red carpet to represent the Met Gala theme, Fashion Is Art, in their best interpretations. The gala’s dress code, just like all previous Met Gala years, goes hand in hand with the current Costume Institute’s exhibition. For 2026, Costume Art was the focus that combined fashion, body, and fine art. Anna Wintour made her return again as co-chair, with Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams joining her. Read on to see the 2026 Met Gala celebrity red carpet looks.
Sabrina Carpenter
The “Manchild” singer attended her fourth Met Gala in a custom Dior look. Carpenter, who was a part of this year’s Met Gala Host Committee, proved that she understood the assignment. She brought an old-Hollywood glamour aesthetic by wearing strips of vintage film from Audrey Hepburn’s 1954 movie Sabrina. On the strips, there were shots of the Sabrina film actors, Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and William Holden. Carpenter also paired her look with Chopard jewelry.
Connor Storrie
The Heated Rivalry star made his debut at the Met Gala in a custom Saint Laurent look. Although the actor originally had on a suit jacket, he removed it to show off what was underneath. Storrie had on a sleeveless polka-dotted blouse with a long tail in the back, paired with black trousers. To make the look pop even more, Storrie had on an Omega gold watch and a silver brooch for accessories.
Beyoncé
As one of the Met Gala’s co-chairs, Beyoncé made her 10-year-long-awaited return to the Met Gala. She was dressed in a look designed by Olivier Rousteing, who has collaborated with her on many of her notable looks. Beyoncé wore a skin-tone dress that had an embroidered diamond skeleton design right down to her hands. She paired the dress with a long-tailed, feathered train coat that needed to be carried by several people.
Anne Hathaway
Fresh off her The Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour, Anne Hathaway didn’t skip out on fashion’s biggest night. Hathaway wore a black and white gown that was a part of a Michael Kors ensemble. Artist Peter McGough hand-painted the dress while drawing inspiration from the poem, Ode on a Grecian Urn.
Bill Skarsgård
The actor kept it classy and elegant by wearing a black suit by Thom Browne with a long leather coat over it. The two clothing textures create a contrasting look that makes Skarsgård stand out more on the red carpet.
Margot Robbie
Robbie returned to the Met Gala in a tailored strapless gold custom gown by Chanel. It included a flowy long train on the back with flower petal detailing. The dress included a total of 1,100 pieces of embroidery that took 761 hours to create, according to an article on Vogue.
Colman Domingo
Inspired by Valentino’s harlequin motif, Domingo wore a colorful custom look designed by the house. The actor’s Met Gala look was finished off with jewelry and Valentino Garavani detailing.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky
The couple closed out Met Gala night by stepping out in style. Rihanna wore a Maison Margiela gown made with metallic colored fabric to create the illusion of a sculpture with jewels “dripping” from the center. In contrast, A$AP Rocky opted for a baby pink long coat with a feathered brooch.
Hudson Williams
Hudson Williams was another Heated Rivarly star who made his debut at this year’s Met Gala. He wore a custom Balenciaga baby blue suit with black embroidered detailing that had crystals and tassels. Williams also channeled his inner Black Swan character with a blue and red smoky eye look with winged eyeliner.
Nicole Kidman
Actress Nicole Kidman, another Met Gala co-chair, took on the red carpet in a Chanel gown. It was a red colored one made up of sequins and a long train trailing from the back.
